But Kopachy is also reasonably close them. In real life, the Iron Forest is quite close to the power plant, as is the cement factory. While much of the map of Pripyat in SoC did look to me to be a good facsimile of the layout of buildings on the ground when I visited (especially the hotel and government buildings) the developers condensed both the urban and, to a greater extent, the wider area in both games to create a playable game space.
While the street layout of Pripyat in CoP appears accurate, what the game developers did was split different parts of the city and put some in SoC and some in CoP. The game maps do not correspond precisely to the actual Zone in real life.
